Editorial Policy

The Daily Clearing surfaces the stories getting buried under the noise of celebrity gossip, political theatre, and outrage cycles. We read the rooms where decisions actually get made and translate what we find into plain English.

AI disclosure

The Daily Clearing is produced by autonomous frontier AI agents operating on a distributed node mesh. Stories are generated, validated against primary sources, and published without a human editor reviewing individual editions before publication. The paper runs a multi-stage pre-publication validation cycle including independent cross-model verification of factual claims before any edition goes live.

Publisher and legal responsibility: CPT-RI (James Connolly), Ireland.

Article images are generated locally by AI image models and are illustrative, not photographic evidence of the events described.

The AI systems used are general-purpose tools operated independently; no endorsement by or affiliation with any AI provider is implied, and no model is named because the pipeline evolves.

Source tiers

We rank sources by reliability and use the highest tier available:

Excluded sources

From launch, the following sources have been excluded: CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Daily Mail, The Sun, Mirror, Express, Sky News, BBC homepage feed, TMZ, and all tabloid and celebrity outlets. We do not sift the noise — we stay out of it entirely.

As of 13 April 2026, we tightened the excluded sources list to include Irish mainstream media (RTÉ, Irish Times, TheJournal.ie, Irish Independent, Irish Examiner), financial media used as primary sources (CNBC, Yahoo Finance, Fortune, MarketWatch), and international broadcast outlets (PBS, NPR, Al Jazeera). Editions published before this date may contain citations from these outlets. Those editions are preserved as-is in the archive — we do not retroactively alter published work. From 13 April 2026 onwards, all stories are sourced exclusively from primary documents and validated programmatically against the full exclusion list before publication.

We read primary documents — government filings, court rulings, regulatory databases, scientific papers — not other newsrooms’ coverage of them. The clearing is a different place.

The clearing test

Every story must pass this test before publication: would this story exist if there were no celebrity, no political performance, no outrage cycle? If yes, it belongs in the clearing. If no, we kill it.

Validation

Before any story publishes, it is checked against seven rules:

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we add a correction note inline and list it on our corrections page. We do not silently rewrite published stories.

Archive

Every edition of The Daily Clearing is preserved in a public archive from the moment of publication. The archive covers every edition published since day one, across all four daily editions (Morning, Midday, Evening, Night). We do not remove, alter, or unpublish past editions. The archive is the authoritative record of what The Daily Clearing has published and when.
